LEDS can be negatively effected by electrical current, electronic drivers and terminal element, all of which contribute to the need for the measurement of single LED performance once installed on PCB. LED output, modules, drivers and the selection of optics can often be problematic for electronic developers involved in LED lighting.

Rather than implementing the most suitable LEDs for development projects based solely on the features of a datasheet, there more and more lighting designers are utilising spectrometer based systems that enable them to quickly and easily verify performance. Total light output can be measured by simply placing a device over single LEDs.

Incoming Inspection Metrics

When purchasing specific groups of LEDs from your supplier you can quickly check if they met your expectation regarding the luminous flux [lm] colour coordinates [x,y] or colour temperature CCT [K]. Using Opti Sphere 48 integrating sphere with a spectroradiometer of your choice you may organise and simplify incoming quality control.

Binning Control

Our GL Spectrosoft software features a Binning Editor Tool which allows for quick verification that the delivery is matching the selected bin (colour and lumen groups). It includes most popular binning systems like ANSI and OSRAM as well as other common binning options. The software option allows for customisation of binning groups which may be set by your internal quality system or your specific design requirements.

Development Critical Metrics

During the development of new LED modules and fixtures you can immediately check the influence of LED drivers, new PCB boards and other components which influence lighting properties of your products. Measuring LEDs before installing them on PCB helps to improve your products and optimizes prototyping.
